Sue
Cridland has been a ski patroller since 1990 and has been part of the
Lapland Lake ski patrol family since the 1997-98 winter season. She
spends most of her time with her husband and two children. While not
patrolling, you will find Sue involved in her duties as a nurse and in
other health and wellness services. In the off-season Sue likes to
garden, hike and canoe. She has recently taken up telemark skiing. |

Tom Bielli
works as a District Conservationist with the Natural Resources
Conservation Service. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three
children. He began patrolling at Lapland Lake during the 2001-02 winter
season. He also patrols at Royal Mountain on the weeknights. His
favorite trail at Lapland Lake is Era Polku after a fresh snowfall, but
when he feels the need for speed, he loves the first hill on Karhu
Polku. When the snow isn’t flying, Tom enjoys hiking, cycling, running,
home-brewing, woodworking, canoeing, kayaking, photography, playing
guitar and being a boy-scout leader. |

Mike
Feldman has been a ski patroller at Lapland Lake since the 2005-06
winter season. He also patrols at Oak Mountain alpine center in
Speculator. Mike is a registered nurse with Flight Nurse LifeNet of NY
Helicopter Emergency Medical Services. When the snow isn’t flying Mike
enjoys whitewater kayaking, mountain biking, canoeing, fishing, hunting,
climbing, sea kayaking, and camping. His favorite trail at Lapland Lake
is Tunturi. |

Jill Barra has received her
certification as level one avalanche and mountaineering rescue. She has
been a patroller for Lapland Lake since the 1998-99 winter season. When
not patrolling, Jill is a supervising public health nurse for Herkimer
County Public Health. In the warmer months Jill enjoys working in the
yard, camping, hiking and kayaking. She is also part of a local running
group and runs several times a week with friends or her dogs. Her
favorite trail at Lapland Lake is Sisu because it winds quietly in the
woods and past the swing by the gurgling brook. |

Dave
Galpin is the head honcho of Lapland Lake’s Volunteer Ski Patrol. He
has been patrolling at Lapland Lake since the 1998-99 winter season and
became director two years later. His fondness for ski patrol began on a
quiet winter day in 1976 at Silver Bells ski center. While not tending
to his patrol duties, you can find Dave working for the New York State
Department of Transportation as an Assistant Resident Engineer. |

Bill Dosch
has been an alpine ski patroller since 2003 at West Mountain and joined
Lapland Lake’s ski patrol during the 2005-06 winter season. While he is
not skiing or running, Bill is an engineer and administers the building
code for the University at Albany. He has two teenage children that ski
with him and think that he needs to spend more time on skate skis and
less on his classics, but Bill will never give in. |

Dennis
Nealon is retired from the US Navy. He resides in Clifton Park and
enjoys his time as an outdoor emergency care instructor, an American
Heart Association instructor and an EMT. He has been an alpine skier
since 1978, and he began patrolling at Elk Mountain in Pennsylvania. |

Eric
Shumaker has been a part of the National Ski Patrol since the 1999-2000
winter season. While not patrolling, he enjoys working in the cellular
and wireless industry. He lives in Northville with his wife two kids
and two dogs. He is a volunteer medic for Northampton Ambulance and
enjoys golfing and kayaking in the summer. |
